My husband and I chose Robin as our builder after interviewing a very strong field of candidates and we can't imagine having made a better choice. Robin is a very strong communicator and has kept both my husband, who is working in China, and me informed and in the loop every step fo the way. When choices need to be made, Robin clearly communicates the options, the pros and cons, and the possibilities based on his extensive background and knowledge. He is also very good at explaining everything and anything regarding the construction process. Robin so clearly takes great joy in what he does, that it is a joyful process for the client too.

I very much appreciate that Robin is also a "client advocate". By this, I mean that he works only with a roster of quality and proven suppliers and contractors and he is also able to keep them in budget range. He listens carefully and takes the client's point of view and budget concerns into account at all times. Robin is very dedicated to taking care of his clients. 

In walking through my future home, I can see Robin's hand everywhere. There are so many details that I can already tell are finely crafted and so many points I can see that have been very carefully thought through. I feel that I will not only get to live in a supremely build home, but one that is also a work of art.

Mr. Maheu contracted with Pigeon Forge Productions, Inc. for a renovation project at the Smoky Mountain Jubilee Theater during the spring of 2009. The job required a tremendous amount of coordination within a very short time frame and everyone associated with the project was extremely satisfied with Mr. Maheu's professionalism, communication skills, and ability to locate the appropriate subcontracting personnel to complete the project within the very difficult time frame required by our company to open the facility on schedule. I would highly recommend Mr. Maheu and his organization for any contracting needs of which Mr. Maheu would feel qualified.

I have worked with Mr. Robin Maheu, project manager for Hickory Construction, for the past 18 months as he remodeled my home. Robin Maheu was the project manager during the two year construction phase of our house built by Hickory Construction. Since I have absolutely nothing negative to say, may I just outline some of the positive attributes of Robin's work that I personally appreciated.

Robin set the tone at the work site. I never heard a foul, negative, or disrespectful work. I heard laughing, singing, and whistling instead.

Robin never criticized. Instead, he made sound rounds, complimented workers and asked what he could do to help or facilitate, or he made suggestions if something needed correcting. 

EVERYONE who visited our house during the construction commented on the cleanliness of the work site. We never saw trash or construction debris lying around at the end of the work day.

Robin always showed the utmost respect to us the owners by referring to us by our titles, Mr. and Mrs., and by referring to the hours as "Mr. and Mrs. King's home." Robin was never too busy to give us his undivided attention, and yet he knew what every worker was doing while he was with us.

Robin instilled in all the workmen and women respect for the site itself as well as the house. There was never any litter left laying around and people were respectful to the beauty of the property.

Robin was outstanding in working all the angles to get the best work and product for the least cost.

Robin added a lot of extra conveniences overlooked by the architects: thermostats of the hot water heaters at the point of use locations; he excavated a larger area in the basement that has proved beyond value; many times he referred us to specialists he knew could solve problems architects didn't have a solution for (lighting of the lantern).

Robin accommodated any class visits by architectural students. 

Even after we moved in, Robin continually asked what he could do for us until we got all the fine details completed. 

When ordering a new batch of mortar for the brick, Robin realized the first order was the wrong color. He had a meeting with us, told us forthrightly a mistake had been made, and Hickory was willing to take down all the brick and put it back with the right color mortar. 

During the entire construction process there was never any need to "check up" on the progress, because Robin caught every problem and corrected it. 

Robin's standard was "perfect" and he accepted no less from the people he employed. 

Robin saved us more money than his services cost us. 

It is my pleasure to recommend Robin with 100% confidence.

Robin, although, Beccie has written you a note, I wanted to personally thank you and the Hickory team for an outstanding accomplishment. Although there were a large number of people involved, you were the person that made it happen. We appreciated the professionalism and your dedication to the day-to-day discipline to insure it was built within all the constraints of pleasing both the Kings and in this case the architects. Given the complexity of the house design, we really appreciated the way you were able to oversee the construction in building the ultimate product, a house that we are really proud of and one in which we could not be happier to live in.

01.02.91 Roger Poulin

My wife Nancy and I contracted with Maheu Builders, Inc. on September, 1991 for the construction of a 2300 s.f. Colonial house in Bristol Ct. At the time, our intention was to purchase a modular home from the builder, but through consultation with Robin and his intelligent floor plan revisions, we decide to go "stick built" for less cost than a modular. 

On September 19th, our lot was cleared (the day after closing) and construction began. Two houses in our neighborhood had at least a two month head start on construction. Within 75 days, we not only were further along than the two other houses under construction, but were within two weeks of total project completion and occupancy.

Thoroughly pleased with the accruracy of Robin's construction schedule, quality of construction and his ability to keep the project within our financial guidelines.
